I believe AI is an amazing tool that isn’t being strategically placed in business. Hence why I’m short on it in the short to medium term.
The hype
Because the space keeps evolving, billions went to “wrapper” startups. AI was hyped up to replace workers, as Sam Altman predicted would happen with the real ease of GPT-5.
Elon has said that AI would essentially remove the need for money because of the efficiency it creates. That is years away. The conversation revolves mainly around some mix of Dario’s gloom, the let’s-go-IPO energy, and the insane science-fiction reality these people envision and portray.
The wrong rollout
It convinced everyone that they must use it, when in reality only an operator should be doing it. It requires a specific love for abstract writing. That person should be orchestrating a team.
People are being forced to use technology they don’t understand. Distributing it to every employee may not be the best or most efficient use of their time.
The operator
To me, the future of AI is a specific person or small team that automates for a large organization. It’s not vibe coding at a $150k+ salary anymore. You save the company money at the end of the day.
You become the most important person because you operate systems that make other people’s lives easier. You are the growth engine.
Enhancement, not replacement
But it’s absolutely not going to be the case that an LLM will surpass human intellect. It only enhances it. AGI is science-fiction nonsense that was the expected outcome. It even had me duped.
I love AI. It’s changed my life. But it’s very intense work, and it’s not for 90% of people, at least. I go on work rallies two days in a row.
